Crystals containing water need a little extra care than others to ensure they do not rupture because of environmental and stress related situations.
If an enhydro crystal is exposed to freezing temperatures for too long, water inside of it can become ice and can damage the structure of the crystal.
Please understand that having an enhydro crystal shipped during late fall / winter is AT YOUR OWN RISK.We use insulated packing materials when shipping during colder months as a preventative measure and drive 20 minutes to the post office (in a warmed up vehicle) and personally take it to the counter, this however does not guarantee the safety of your specimen.
Please consider doing the following when shipping:
– Use an express service or one with signature service.
– Be home or have someone at the place of delivery to take the package so it does not sit outside in the elements.
– Have the post office hold the package until you can retrieve it.
Exposing enhydro crystals to high heat can also damage them and in extreme circumstances could be dangerous. When water gets hot it creates pressure and pressure built up in small spaces can equal bad news. Also, avoid grasping the crystal for too long, keeping it in your pocket or dropping it onto something hard.
Winter weather damage is a rare occurrence so don’t let this frighten you, but please consider any of the mentioned steps to that could possibly prevent these one of a kind natural wonders from being harmed. Out of the 5 that got damaged from weather during our time selling these, it was shipping in winter to other cold places. Shipping to warmer locations are far less likely to be damaged from freezing.
